Sangam Initiative: A Leap towards AI-Driven Infrastructure Transformation

Sangam Initiative was announced by Department of Telecommunications on 15th February, 2024. They invited Expression of Interest from organizations and individuals. After the same is received, now they have publicized the names of Stage I participants. There are 112 organizations and 32 individuals that will participate in the first phase. In this Artificial Intelligence driven growing environment, one must know about following things related to this initiative of DoT:

  1. It will help in better infrastructure planning. It is expected that AI technology will be used to make infrastructure models, analytics and images. 3 dimensional models are good to go with its help. In this way, instead of drawing an architecture on a chart paper, 3D, 4D and 5D models can easily be made. It may also assist in developing electronic images that can be seen at the click of a button in 3D format.
  2. It will utilize and combine the benefits of telecommunications, computers, sensing, Virtual Reality applications, data platforms and imaging.
  3. Another good news here is that it considering the high interest of participants, the DoT has extended the deadline for participation in Stage I to 25th June, 2024.
  4. The Modus Operandi is that firstly, all possible problems and challenges related to infrastructure planning are studied. Then the source of problem is analysed and thereafter all probable solutions will be discussed to address these real world needs.
  5. It is also a positive note that as a continuation of this initiative, DoT will soon organize events so that more and more organizations can participate, be able to exchange knowledge and present their cases wherein AI is actively used in this industry.

Government of India has been actively promoting digitization which is useful in all senses. It will be very helpful for India to move on the path of becoming a developed economy, will utilise its untapped potential, will keep on increasing India’s say in the world and is a sign of great diplomacy.
