How to manage Emotional Stress?

No matter how much people say to keep a distance between professional life and personal life, both are actually interconnected. Emotional stress in personal life will lead to low productivity on the job and if the same s combined with high work pressure, then it may lead to mental illness such as depression. Therefore, to live a fulfilling life, it is very important for both employer and employee to manage their emotional stress at personal level. Let us deliberate upon the keys to manage the same:

  1. Practice Mindfulness: Meditation is of course the key to a healthy life. Like exercise is for body, meditation is for mind. One must do it at least for 15 minutes daily. It will eventually lead to control on thoughts, anger and emotions.
  2. Believe that everything is temporary: It is the rule of nature that nothing is permanent. So, whatever you are going through, no matter how hard it is, will end one day. So till then, you have to keep going. Believe that it is the days which are hard, not the whole life.
  3. Practice balancing in negative situations: Once you become pro in controlling your thoughts, you will automatically learn the act of balancing. Neither feeling too bad in adverse situations nor feeling too happy in favorable circumstances is required.
  4. Be grateful for your work: There are so many people out there who want to get job but because of lack of skills or education, they are unable to get the same. They may have to work as rag pickers or servants to fulfill their survival needs. So one should always feel grateful that they have hands and feet to work and are also getting the work. A good work environment works as cherry on top.
  5. Burst it out: If required, do cry your heart out. It may be done in front of your closed ones, who will console you or alone, as you may like. Releasing the emotions is very important because these piled up emotions would lead to a lots of diseases.
  6. Accept that you are still alive: Whenever you feel like giving up, go and visit a cancer hospital or a trauma center. You will see how many people are willing to live but they do not have this chance. There are children and youngsters who met with accidents but are fighting for life. So, you being alive, means that a lot is yet to occur and a lot of good moments are waiting for you. So hang on there.
  7. Feel that this life will finish off one day: Last but not the least, be aware that you will not live on this earth forever. We create expectations and demands, make plans for distant future but the fact is we do not even know in which second, this life is going to end. So embrace life and your breath each day.
