This industry operates through these and offers it’s goods, products and services through trained Direct sellers or distributors.

Direct selling is not a new term for India, even I attended a Direct selling company’s event in 1999.

But it was not the beginning, even before that date, Amway, Oriflame and Tupperware entered Indian market somewhere around 1995.

These companies introduced Indian consumers a new way of purchasing products where they could recommend those products to others and earn commissions on the sales made through their Direct Selling Unique Codes.

Initially this industry grew slowly but, by the time it began expanding rapidly as more Indian and international companies joined the market.

In 2016, the ministry of consumer affairs released guidelines for the direct selling industry, providing much needed regulation and recognition to the industry.

Today, Direct selling industry is a multi-billion-dollar industry, with millions of independent distributors participating across the country.

The future of Direct selling Industry in India appears promising, with this industry is expected to grow at a CAGR of 4.8% between 2025 to 2030, driven by several factors:

  2. Digital transformation
  3. Government support
  4. E-com integration
  5. Youth Participation
  6. Growing Entrepreneurship Culture
