Bhavish Aggarwal has announced Krutrim AI Lab, a pioneering initiative to transform artificial intelligence for India’s unique needs. This ambitious project will address the most critical challenges, such as multilingual accessibility, limited data resources, and cultural nuances, developing AI solutions that seamlessly integrate into India’s digital ecosystem.
In the leadership for these innovations come Krutrim 2, an advanced model LLM. The predecessor is Krutrim 1. With this version, the technology significantly improves Indic language understanding and processing, leading to the effective and inclusive application of AI-driven communication.
It has added the latest suite of pioneering AI models- Chitrarth 1: India’s first Vision Language Model will improve understanding of images and documents, whereas Dhwani 1 shall be used in speech recognition and translation, reducing linguistic barriers between the states of the country.
Another great resource is Vyakhyarth 1, an advanced Indic Embedding model optimized for search functionality as well as Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) applications. Krutrim Translate 1 will also feature state-of-the-art text-to-text translation as it enhances communications between the regions of this linguistically diverse country called India.
To further push AI research and innovation, Krutrim AI Lab is also launching BharatBench, a global benchmark for evaluating AI performance in Indic languages. This will set new standards for AI development and cement India’s position as a leader in the field.
By incubating homegrown AI innovations, Krutrim AI Lab is not only creating solutions that are tailored for India but also laying the foundation for India to become a global superpower in artificial intelligence.
